Last night my Granny was evacuated from her residence due to a fire which ensued near her street on Montcalm, Gatineau. She was evacuated at 5am and taken to a nearby hotel (who’s name I refuse to mention) for safety. This such hotel called her at 12 noon requesting an estimated time for her ‘check out’ despite the fact she had arrived 6 hours before! Never the less the fact she is a senior and was transported there due to a tragedy.
The hotel blamed it on the #RedCross stating they would only cover a one night stay, so therefor they needed to know her exit time. They went as far as to state ‘they would put her stuff out’, oh yes, I have it recorded.
My frantic 84 year old Nonna didn’t know what to do. I got to it to powers that be and via Twitter the Red Cross Canada contacted me and learned of the mess and aided in their very special way.
Thank you Candace & Jean P at The Red Cross Canada for being attentive and helping my Nonna. It goes to show you… good people do exist.
My heart ‘Thanks You’
